Getting to Washington, D.C.
Washington, D.C. is served by three international airports. The closest and most convenient airport to the conference is the Washington National Internation Airport (airport code DCA). This airport is located across the Potomac River separating D.C. from Virginia and is serviced by the Metro rail system.

A larger aiport with more international connections is the Dulles International Airport (aiport code IAD). This airport is located about 26 miles (42 km) from Washington, D.C. It does not have a direct Metro access, however, a frequent bus shuttle connects it to the West Falls Church Metro station. There are also various private shuttle operators offering transport. Finally, you can also fly into Baltimore (airport code BWI). This airport is located 33 miles away.

Getting to the Conference Center
The best way to get around D.C. is by using the Metro, D.C.'s subway system. The conference is located near the Foggy Bottom / GWU station on the blue and orange line. You will find more information about the system on the Metro website, including a trip planner and a system map. The cost for each trip is based on the distance traveled and also on the time of the day, with the rate being higher during the morning and afternoon "rush". You pay for the trip with either a paper ticket or a plastic SmartTrip card. The paper ticket is fed into a reader and must be retrieved before the entry gate opens. Make sure to keep it since you will need it to exit the system. The plastic card is used by touching it to a sensor on the gate. The metro is transitioning away from the paper tickets and offers discounted fares for travelers using the SmartTrip card. These cards can be purchased for $5.00 in a variety of places, including most grocery and drug stores.

Below you will find directions for getting to the conference center from the three airports.

•    Option 1: Take the blue line to Largo Town Center for five stops to Rosslyn. Next take the Orange line towards New Carrolton for one stop. Get off at Foggy Bottom / GWU. Note that the Orange line tends to get very busy with commuters during the morning and afternoon "rush".
